Re: names in conlangs

Hi!
I have no naming conventions yet in any of my langs except Þrjótran,
which uses the conventions of Icelandic: the surname is:
name of father in genitive case + son/daughter
The word (maybe the ancient word, this is not yet decided) for 'son'
is 'þílir' < 'filius', 'daughter' is 'þíl'. Analogous to Icelandic,
the nominative of 'þílir' is shortened to '-þíl' in name compounds.
E.g.,
Male:
Iosephus filius Marki > Merkiþíl Jósifur ['mEr_kITi:l 'jou)sIvYr]
Note that Iosephus came into Thrjotran late, so it has no [f] > [T]
shift.
BTW, this chap runs a company for photographic services in the
capital of Þrjótur. If you ever happen to get _there_, and need
quality photographs or high-resolution digital scans, just contact
him. (E.g. http://www.kunstsprachen.de/s17/aquila.html)
Female:
Maria filia Marki > Merkiþíl Mer [... 'me:r]
In contrast to Icelandic, in the nominative, you cannot directly see
the gender.
