True, they can, although an abugida doesn't take that much time either.

True, it is, which is why one should learn about the scripts in the
style they intend.

No, a broad pen or brush aren't hard to get, although your average
writer may not want to spend time learning how to handle a brush (it's
not that easy... i have three, i still can't get it just "right").
These can help in guiding you in writing your script, but a pen/pencil
and paper are just fine.
