It's "mao", but not the same tone as the Chinese communist leader's name.
I'm sure "miao" must mean something, though .... hmm, here's a "miao" =
with
a falling tone that means "wonderful, excellent, fine".
Oddly enough, I never named any of my cats in one of my conlangs, but I
gave my sister's cat a name in Olaetyan. (This was around 20 years ago =
when
I was in high school; it's been a long time since I had a cat.)
