I forgot to answer the second part of your question. Well,
for some reason I decided that in modal verb constructions
like "may do sth", the second verb instead of the first one
is inflected. I know that doesn't make so much sense
actually. Anyway, I wanted to make it different to
English/German and that's what it came out eventually ...
