You have that penomenon too? Heron, in "Cultures of the World"
mentions this apparatus: "Persian metalsmiths make use of a great work
of magick to change silver objects into gold. They procure ordinary
clay jars and put into them copper and iron vessels which they fill
with newly pressed grape juice, saying in sooth that the Sun imparts
the spirit of gold into the grapes. They then touch a silver object to
this apparatus and the silver object verily turns golden."
