Nope, "fäderne", I think, is an old collective noun which I presume contains a father, and his forefathers and mothers. It can also have a few alternative uses. I think it has equal or even stronger overtones of National Socialism. Fosterland means "land where you where raised", which gives a more solid feeling of belonging to a land than just originating in it, I think. Another usage: "Jag är släkt med henne på fädernet" = I am realted to her, through my father's family. Since this word is seldom used where I live, could someone who hears this more often/knows this/has a better etymological book/ tell me if I am correct. I am not sure about the preposition in the above sentence, and I even am not sure if it really should be 'fadernet'...
