You mean like where sounds and letters don't match? Or where lots of letters can represent the same sound and verse visa? Kerno is like that to an extent, though not by design. From the webpage: a "a" as in father when stressed; "u" as in cut otherwise e "ay" as in pay, or "e" as in pen, usually silent at end of a word i "ee" as in sleep, or "i" as in kin o "o" as in bloke u "oo" as in food, or "ee" y "ee" ay "eye" as in eye, sometimes "a" followed by "ee" aw "aw": "a" followed by "oo" ea "ay" followed by "u" ei "ay" ey "ay" as in pay eo "ay" followed by "eu" as in French heure eu "ew": "e" followed by "oo" ew "ew": "e" followed by "oo" ia "ee" followed by "u" io "y" as in yes followed by "o" iw "yoo" as in you oa "wa" as in wash, the w is often quite muted to "u" + "a" oe "ow" followed by French "eu" oi "oy" as in boy ou "oo" oy "oy" as in boy ui "e" Most consonants are pronounced similar to English. b "b" as in cab c "c" as in tack (before a, o, u) "k" as in tick (before e, i) ch, x "ch" as in loch; "sh" ci "sh" as in shape ck "ck" as in tack cou "kw": "qu" as in quick coeu "kw": "qu" cu "kw" (before o) d "d" as in bad f "f" as in father g "g" as in rug (before a, o, u) geo "g" as in garage, the "zh" sound (before e, i) gh "gh", like "ch" only voiced gou "gw" as in Gwent goeu "gw" h "h" as in hat only when alone. When found in combination with other consonants, it's the sign of consonant mutation and simply affects the pronunciation of that other consonant. j "dj" as in John jeo "zh" k "ck" as in tack l "l" as in look al "eye", "aw": al = "eye"; alf = "alf"; alj = "awdj"; alm = "awm"; als = "eyes"; alz = "awdh" or "awz" ail "eye" il "ee"; sometimes "ul" el "ew" eil "eyes" ol "ow" ul "wee" ll "h" followed by "l" m "m" as in manor n "n" as in nice p "p" as in sip ph "f" q "ck" - sometimes found at the end of a word qu "ck" r trilled "r" (Spanish "rr" as in perro) when at the beginning of a word; "R": "r" as in round otherwise rh "h" followed by "r" or "R" s "s" as in sit si "sh" as in shape t "t" as in quit th "th" as in thorn; "t" as in top when at the end of a word v "v" as in victory w "w" as in work x "ch" as in loch; "sh" as in shape; "ks" as in rex; y "y" as in yet z "z" as in zero; "dh": "th" as in that Padraic. -- Gwerez dah, chee gwaz vaz, ha leal.
