Well now, I like the colors of the David Peterson design with "more correct"
heraldic colors (Variation 3)-- but shouldn't the sun always be yellow
(gold, "or")? How about making it a _real_ sun, with rays (spreading over
and enlightening the whole world) -- cf. the Uruguayan flag--
http://www.geographic.org/flags/new1/uruguay_flags.html
(or the Argentine, at the same website, but Uruguay's sun looks a bit nicer
IMO)
replacing the little face with our correct (not stylized) hieroglyph? BTW,
is the hieroglyph the formal (carved/painted) version, or a script/demotic
one? If the latter, I'd then probably prefer the formal version.
I also like the idea behind your minimalist design, but perhaps the bicolor
oval could be replaced with the sun+hieroglyph; in this case, any two colors
would be OK with me, yea, even the purple and black. Purple+black+gold-- in
fact quite regal IMO.
