Yes, so do I (And most Aussies I know), except I'd use /&i/ not /&j/,
because it isn't vowel+consonant but diphthong (not meaning to flame or
insult or anything of that nature so don't think that I'm trying to. I'm
just clarifing what I meant. Do NOT reply to the second part of the sentance
or this bracket part.)
(Also, in response to that South Aussie person: yes, I am from Victoria.
Also, do you pronounce 'than' and 'then' the same way? (Like then) Or is it
limited to Vic? Or not even all of Vic? The Maquarie dictionary insists on
saying its pronounced /D&n/ (and it says that hang is pronounced /h&ng/. And
it says that 'where' is pronounced /wE@/. and... its pretty useless as a
guide now, isn't it?))
