Especially for (nominally, at least) bilingual cities?
If you take Switzerland, for example, it might make sense for a
hypothetical auxlang that has proper nouns end in "u" to call certain
cities "Baselu" and "Genevu", rather than, for example,
"Balu"/"Basileu" and "Genfu"/"Ginevru" -- since Basle is in a
predominantly German-speaking area and Geneva in a predominantly
French-speaking area.
Though I suppose the capital of Grisons might be "Kuru" or
"Kweru"/"Kwoiru", depending on whether it's considered German-speaking
or Rhaeto-Romanic-speaking - so it's still an issue.
