Well, first there is its application to women who actually are French, but
we'll exclude that. Then there is Madame Chiang Kai-shek (who just died,
aged 105), Madame C.J. Walker (the inventor of hair straightener),
Madame Sidecar (a retailer of women's clothing), Madame Blavatsky
(founder of Theosophy, perhaps a marginal example considering the francophony
of many Russians in her day), and Madame Alexander (a company that makes dolls).
