Two amusing experiences--
1. Taking a shortcut through a galleria/passageway (suprisingly empty at
the time), I was ambling along looking in shop windows etc, when I realized
there was a rather attractive gentleman coming toward me. As we got closer
and closer, I smiled, finally stepped aside to my right. He smiled and
stepped aside, to his left. We were two-three feet apart and about to
collide when I realized it was a large mirror; I hadn't noticed that the
corridor turned 90degrees.......
2. There used to be a touristy paddle-wheel boat that plied the river/lake
here in Saugatuck; it was called the "Queen of Saugatuck". One night, just
after I'd moved here, the telephone rang (odd, since I knew almost no-one)--
Male voice: Is this the queen of Saugatuck?
Me, in wise-ass mode, assuming it was my friend in Detroit: Well, that
depends on your point of view.......
Stunned silence, then laughter and explanations. I looked up the correct
number for him-- it had the same digits as mine but in different order.
The boat still plies our waters, but has been re-named "Star of Saugatuck."
