Why is that annoying? As long as you don't beat yourself up for petty
things, it's a rather positive personality trait. It means you care about
why you are the way you are, and if there are any destructive characteristics,
it means you are at least aware of them, and have the chance to change them.
The ability to discern the motives for people's actions -- anyone's, whether
your own or others' -- is one of the most important lifeskills one can acquire,
IMHO. On a purely pragmatic level, it saves you a lot of pain, but it can also
be a fascinating intellectual exercise in itself.
