You're just confusing French with the IPA :)) . In French indeed, c-cedilla 'ç' is /s/ before a, o or u. But in the IPA, the same symbol is used for the voiceless palatal fricative /C/ (the "ich-laut" of German). And in IPA, you also have a c-curl, indicating a voiceless alveolo-palatal fricative (halfway between /s/ and /C/). Christophe. http://rainbow.conlang.free.fr
