How true. I'm looking for Old Spanish info, too. Only I'm looking at the
Reconquista and earlier -- about 1000-1500. I'm especially interested in
the history of Arabic borrowings into Spanish. Anybody got some cool leads?
I'm also in need of info on Arabic borrowings into Italian -- especially
Sicilian. Info on medeival North African Arabic pronunciation, late Coptic,
Berber langs of western Lybia, Tunisia, Algeria and maybe eastern Morocco
are also high on my coveted info list.
Byzantine Greek shouldn't be too hard to find, though I haven't begun my
search yet.
Vandal seems to be hopeless. I would give blood for just a good word list.
Any one know of some good lists of early Germanic borrowings into Vulgar
Latin especially in Iberia, the Italian pennenisula, Sicily, Sardinia and
Cosica?
Also, how closely was Vandal/the Vandals realted to Gothic/the Goths? Does
anyone even know if the were East, West or North Germanic?
Adam who has the sudden urge to work on Cartageno again.
