I'm typing this on a Dvorak keyboard.
There's a certain lack of really convincing evidence for Dvorak's
superiority to QWERTY, but I have to believe it offers _some_
advantage. I can't see any way QWERTY could be better than Dvorak,
and it seems vanishingly unlikely that there is no difference at all.
In answer to And's question about switching between keyboards: I avoid
it when possible (bringing my own keyboard with me if necessary) and
otherwise just type slower. I can't really touch-type on QWERTY any
more, but I can sight-type faster than I could on a completly
unfamiliar keyboard. I believe it would be possible to maintain a
useful touch-typing speed on both styles at once, with regular
practice, though it would be difficult. I'm helped in this respect by
the unusual design of my Dvorak keyboard, so the position of my hands
serves as some reminder of what layout I'm using.
