Probably not. The Romance loans in Maltese are basically from Sicilian, and don't have the characteristic marks of LF (verbs in the infinitive, adjectives in the masculine contrary not only to conventional but even to natural gender).

http://www.uwm.edu/~corre/franca/go.html is the leading site, I believe. It's interesting that the Ethnologue lists one of the alternative names of LF as "Ferenghi". -- John Cowan jcowan@reutershealth.com www.reutershealth.com ccil.org/~cowan Dievas dave dantis; Dievas duos duonos --Lithuanian proverb Deus dedit dentes; deus dabit panem --Latin version thereof Deity donated dentition; deity'll donate doughnuts --English version by Muke Tever God gave gums; God'll give granary --Version by Mat McVeagh
