I think I missed this discussion. FWIW, in my lect "whom" is universally
the dative of "who" in every register, unless I consciously decide to
pattern myself more closely with those around me (or, oddly, if I've been
drinking -- which surely ought to reveal the more ingrained pattern,
shouldn't it?). It may be the only remnant of the dative (vs the more
common oblique) case in my lect.
