I think there's got to be some part of the brain that deals with sound processing in general. Music, languages, and bird songs are all interests of mine. Of course, not all languages are spoken, but the spoken ones are the ones that I have the most interest in.

I enjoyed the one sample of Teonaht singing on your web page. I wonder = why your Netscape doesn't like MIDI files?
