In grade school in the 1970's we likewise learned "My Country 'Tis of
Thee", "America the Beautiful"; I had until reading your email never
heard of "Columbia the Gem of the Ocean"...

Those we didn't learn in grade school but as marching band trivia.
And they are in fact by Sousa. "Hurrah for the flag of the free..."
