Isn't this a diphtong?

That's funny. I thought this one was pronounced /le:Yw/. Robert & Van Dale gives
/le:w/ and in your dialect that's /lI:w/. /I:/ is a good compromise between
/e:/ and /Y/.

Isn't this a monophtong?

Is "américain" really pronounced with a closed vowel in Dutch? In French, that'd
be /amerikE~/, with an open-mid vowel.

Also pronounced with a stop? I have the same problem with three, which I tend to
pronounce like tree when I don't pay attention ;-)
