Yes, I am also an Orkut user, as I am a Brazilian :).
I think this project will not be successful in designing a usable language
due to technical reasons: Orkut is not a suitable tool for coordinating
projects. Differently from an e-mail list, when you post a reply in Orkut
you lose traceability about the order of the posts. This can revive
discussions that once were overcome. Moreover, I believe the project
coordinator does not have much experience with conlanging (my guess is based
on the description appearing in his Orkut profile).
Anyway, I am observing the ideas only to learn something more about
conlanging (and "con-IAL-ing"), derived from people's comments.
I think people that intend to design languages by committee should first
study how open source software projects are coordinated. Programmers spread
throughout the world evolve software concurrently and this does not turn
into chaos because of the coordination tools and procedures that have been
set up. Many lessons are applicable to language design too.
