Absolutely. My father read it aloud wonderfully in his 19th-century
Irish-American accent (quite different from current Irish accents);
he was born in the U.S. in 1904, but probably never heard non-Irish English
(except on the radio) until he went to college in 1928 or so. He was
a dialect switcher, and used a more ordinary American accent most of the time.
