I guess you'd write "o" as a circumflex in hand writing, to distinguish it
from the inverted circumflex (caron) of the "i".
As for mixing up p's and b's, that shouldn't be a problem: All unvoiced
stops have a descender on the right side, and all unvoiced stops have it on the
left. No other letters have descenders.
As for f's and v's, they're just clipped versions of p and b.
