Only by those who can't, or don't for subcultural reasons, pronounce it
the pharyngeal way. Before i got the knack of it i met an Israeli girl
who insisted that people saying her name pronounce it the "correct" way,
[Hofit], and specifically not [xofit] or [hofit].
Now, of course, i use [H] all the time, and people think that i'm
Sephardic...
