Wow. I never thought that I would have seven versions of this text,
including my English and Kucpergap versions. And others might be translating
it as we write, or planning on translating it. Since writing the story,
Kucpergap has undergone a couple of Morphological changes, to make Personal
Pronouns more noticable, and it will probably change a little bit more. As
it stands here are some statistics on the seven versions:
Kucpergap, JJS
170 words, 1011 characters, an average of ~6 letters per word.
English, also JJS
298 words, 1360 characters, an average of ~4.6 letters per word.
Amman Iar, David Bell
271 words, 1811 characters, an average of ~6.7 letters per word.
Ini, Nicole Perrin
305 words, 1694 characters, an average of ~5.55 letters per word.
Elet Anta, John Fisher
213 words, 1380 characters, an average of ~6.5 letters per word.
Kelen, Sylvia Sotomayor
429 words, 1498 characters, an average of ~3.5 letters per word.
Kash, Roger Mill, a version lacking mention of the Horse Red-Moon
258 words, 1667 characters, an average of ~6.5 letters per word.
Kelen on average has the smallest words, but happens to be the wordiest
translation yet. :) The original Kucpergap has the fewest words, and the
fewest characters. English is in second place for smallest words. The most
characters, including punctuation is Amman Iar. All translations except Elet
Anta have the title translated as well. Roger, I was wondering if pack
animals are unheard of in Kash? If they are present, the horse Red-Moon
could be included in that way. Anyone else care to translate the story?
