Well, that was awfully cool of them! Has Cannery Row changed much? When
I was there, has the huge ... um, goes round and round, has horses and
mirrors, I forget what it's called. Last I heard, they'd gotten rid of
it. Is the Dream Theatre still there? If it is, and you haven't been,
you GOTTA go! Coolest theater I've ever been in.
One of my favorite memories of Monterey was starting on the far side of
the Aquarium and walking along the rocks and water all the way down to
Salinas - took quite a while, but I saw the coolest stuff. That and
learning about anemones out of water (if you poke em, they spit at
you!). Collecting abalone shells. And the woods above DLI were a
favorite spot!
Most outstanding memory (as opposed to favorite) was getting braodsided
by what I swear was an albino stag. It was running across that street
that goes UP the hill to DLI, right at the entrance to DLI, I stopped to
watch, and it ran right into me and knocked me over. Shades of Celtic
otherworlds!!
