You may already know this, but the best authority on pidgins/creoles is Derek
Bickerton (Hawaii, or maybe retired by now). At least one book and no doubt
many articles. _Oceanic Linguistics_ might have things by him or his
followers-- it's on line at the U.Hawaii/Linguistics website (index only for
most past issues).
IIRC, the sequence in This world is: pidgin > creole
