Maybe that was it. It's been puzzling me for a while - I handed a short story to a Dutchman a while ago - he was my landlord then - and it used some of the words in my conlang |yhe vala lakha|, noticeably |uwe| - new - as in |uwe lakhabrech| - new lakhabrech, formerly |Aiyani Kherayashu|. He came back and told me he didn't like the way I was using words. I told him they were words that belonged strictly in the world of the story and he shrugged his head and shook his shoulders - or have I got that the wrong way around? - and said forget it. I went through a Dutch dictionary to try to find what had bothered him, and now I think I may have an answer - if he got caught on the word |uwe|. Strange! Wesley Parish
