Being the son of an elementary school teacher, I have frequently heard
complaints about how current students have worse attention than previous
years. My now even teaches according to the rule where you don't do the
exact same thing for more than about 15 minutes, because the students
don't pay attention that long.

ADD isn't all that new. My uncle was diagnosed with it back in the
early 70s. I think its just got to be better known, or perhaps it got to
be a "trendy" diagnosis.
