South Australia, of course, which touches Victoria, NSW, Queensland,
Western Australia and the Northern Territory (which isn't a state). (NSW
touches Victoria, SA, Qld and has the ACT floating entirely inside of
it, giving it second place.) Having only six states and two mainland
territories (we have others: the Australian Antarctic Territory, the
Christmas Island Territory, the Cocos (Keeling) Islands and such, but
no-one cares about them) makes it easy enough to remember stuff about
them. And make most of them dwarf Texas (are Texans as obsessed with the
size of their state as they're made out to be?).
