Dear Remi,
I suppose the main reason why I'm not keen on the Japanese system is that it
just doesn't look beautiful (to me) - I'm a bit of an "aesthetic" type!
There is a bit about the Auleri culture (Auleri is simply one of their own
names for themselves - it means "singers" since they are inordinately fond
of composing, playing and singing music and poetry) but the basis of it is
the European, especially British, fairy tradition and within that a
fascinating 13th-Century account - in Latin, obviously - of two "Green
children". But go on - get your aliens writing, give their tentacles some
exercise!
If you're using plain text for e-mail then you should have no problem with
slashes, but maybe you can't do this for some reason. All these various
transcriptions of the IPA are pretty confusing, aren't they?
> Come on! I know you can do better than this! ;-)
Sorry! I'm staying with the existing version (after all, I'm only the
recorder...) since I like a bit of 'imperfection' - it greatly increases the
richness and 'reality' of the script.
Thanks for the link below. I saw Tibetan many years ago and really liked it.
I can't say it didn't influence the Omeina script. I have put up a big page
of script with examples on the Omeina section of my website (most of the
rest is Astronomy!) at
http://freespace.virgin.net/m.poxon/omeina/writing.htm
and there's also a link from the opening.htm page (rest of the URL as above)
