Oh, yes. You're too right. Whoops. Sorry for confusion.
/mam/ is, I understand, the amercian word for 'mother', but /a/ matches
to (say), RP /Q/, making it 'mom'. I think I should've not said this
like this. It was a stupid thing to do.
