You mean that natives pronounce the {a} as [O] ~ [Q]? Would that be the
general pronunciation of /A/ in that dialect? I tend to vary between [A]
and [Q] quite without any rule when speaking English. I thought this was
interference from my L1, but it might be that my grandmother who learnt her
English in Chicago in the 1920's actually had the same variation, or at
least lack of distinction!
