So it makes perfect sense, then. All they're doing is borrowing it based on pronunciation as close as it can be done in both (i.e. American and Australian) dialects (except for the stress thing). Okay, so when is a written R pronounced and when is it not? Oh, and does French distinguish between [J] and [nj]?
