Well, "engineer", at least in how I understand English-speaking people using
it, is more or less restricted to technology, and is thus not as much a title
as it is in French (where "ingénieur" is a title just like "docteur"
and "professeur". It belongs to that hierarchy). It is often used in cases
where I'd rather translate it as "technicien". The nearest equivalent to the
French "Ingénieur" in English is "M.Sc." (Masters in Science? I'm not sure how
to understand the abbreviation :(( ).
