I don't know on what part of the globe you are, but here (Minnesota),
"fruitcake" definitely refers to one's mental stability (or lack thereof) and
has nothing to do with one's sexual orientation. Fruitcake is a marvelous
word, in my opinion, for describing not only a brick that my mother-in-law
tries to pass off an edible cake (my wife says she likes it, but there's
still a year-old hunk of it in the freezer), but for the state of mind that
concocts such fascinating ideas. :) If it offends you, just think how
offensive it must be for Patrick Ryan and Edo Nyland. ;>
