I would cringe too if I heard "boughten"!!
God, that's as bad as "drownded".

How long until "paschetti" for spaghetti and "hostible" for hospital are
considered standard? Hi, Supernintendo Chalmers! I'm learnding!

As for "gotten," I don't think I ever use that in the context "I have
gotten..." But we all know the phrase "ill-gotten". And while you could say
something "has shrunk", you'd refer to a "shrunken head".
