CHAT: A question on quoted text

I have to ask -- when I respond to a post and quote text, I don't see right
carats (>) along the left; I see this gray bar which appears to be a
graphic.  Is this happening to anybody else (I suspect this is a Hotmail
issue), and if it bothers anyone (it might be sending as HTML), please let
me know...  DW
