J. Barefoot has brought up the idea that there are certain sounds which
subconsciously call to us. I think she is probably right, though the letters
will vary with the individual, I think. Personally,I really like the
consonants p,t,k, and s. I like the sounds of f and w and y after almost any
consonant. I do not like vowel clusters or large consonant clusters. "n-" has
a negative sound. To me "k-" has a kind sound. I also suspect that the sounds
people like will be reflected in their conlang. It would be interesting to do
a psychological study, to find the sound clusters that "most people" find
pleasant, fun, enjoyable..I suspect something of that order went into the
phonetic construction of lojban. Anyone?
