Hmmm ... from my own experience, I'd say that yes, the Swedes are *amazed*
that anyone (and an Englishman!) bothered to learn their language - but
*impressed*?...
Sample dialogue:
JK: Jag talar lite Svenska.
Sv: You speak Swedish?!? (allows brief flicker of mixed amazement and
amusement) Ah. (returns to impassive Swedishness for remainder of
conversation)
