My first name, Tristan, is just a name my parents both liked. My mother's
first choice for my name was `Felix', but my father hated that. (Some
believe that the fact that there was a chance of me being named `Felix' is
enough to account for my oddities ;)* ). She was, however, allowed to name
my youngest sister `Felicity'. My middle name, Alexander, was my paternal
great-grandfather's name. My older sister's middle name, Grace, was our
paternal great-grandmother's name. No prizes for guessing where my surname
came from. My youngest brother's middle name, Robert, is my father's first
name. His second middle name, Colin, was his father's first name. Dad was
the youngest child. And that tradition continues for a few generations.
All (3) male children in our family have first names ending in -an; all
female (2) children have first names ending in -y. My younger brother has
the most anomylous name, as he was not named after anyone as far as I
know.
* _Felix the Cat_ is an umm.... very odd cat...
