Back, after many a day! I deleted sooooo many e-mails... I'm sorry. :(
I'm back to participate now that spring break is over. ~:D
Anyway, Aidan, I love this idea! ~:D I'm glad that it seems to have
taken quite nicely.

> 1. birch (the tree)
So, I'm trying to do this for Kamakawi. First, it's supposed to be a Hawaiian-like language. While it doesn't have an associated culture, I imagine it as being spoken by people who lived on an island like the Hawaiian islands, and, as such, I'd like to stick with the flora and fauna of the island. One big problem, though, is that I've never BEEN to Hawaii. Another big problem is that I don't know what the heck a birch tree looks like (I'm very bad with this; I'm trying to learn). I looked in my big Hawaiian dictionary, and I couldn't find a word for "birch", which would suggest to me that they don't have them, but does anyone know for sure?
> 3. to save (money)
kelime (v.) to save (money/goods), to stockpile (derived from "keme", which is "to gather, to collect". The infix -li- is added to make it an actor, so the noun is a saver, and then from there the verb is zero-derived)
> 4. to conquer
hawake (v.) to conquer, to occupy (in the negative sense) (derived from "hake", "to visit", with a negative suffix -wV- [vowel gains specification from previous, in this case /a/]. So, "to visit wrongly") -David "fawiT, Gug&g, tSagZil-a-Gariz, waj min DidZejsat wazid..." "Soft, driven, slow and mad, like some new language..." -Jim Morrison
