I think a modern Icelandic speaker would hear
it as a mispronunciation of [tau] or [tou],
so the word would be spelled _getítá_ or
_getító_.
Old Norse had two possible diphthongs:
[Qu] spelled _au_ or [2y] spelled _ey_.
