Southern English vowel manglers!
It might be something like
[bVk]/[bV:k]
[rVm]/[rV:m]
but I'm not too sure of the distinction between [U] and [V]. However, buck
rhymes with duck, cluck, suck etc, and book is like boot with the t
replaced with a k.
On a related note, I'm a big fan of early Genesis, but my least favourite
early Genesis song is "Seven Stones", which has the chorus,
"Despair that tires the world brings the old man laughter,
The Laughter of the world only grieves him,
Believe him,
The old man's guide is chance".
Peter Gabriel's awful public school accent mangled [l&fter] and [tS&ns]
into [la:fter] and [tSa:ns] respectively. And then he held the note on
"Chance"!
PG is my favourite musician, but Charterhouse did some terrible things to
his vowels.
