Wow, Jim!

I don't think I could have said this better myself. I used to belong to a
discussion list like this for the instrument I played. The members there
were from highlevel professionals down to 14 year old beginners. It never
failed that there were a few blow-hards who were so busy being "right" about
everything that some people would leave the list after a while. A friend who
was a part of that list used to refer to those people as "musicologists"
those who studied music only. The rest of us were "musicians," those of us
who wanted to make music. (She was a professional musician and teacher with
decades of experience)

I'm always saddened when I see this attitude creep into any list. I'm here
because I enjoy conlanging, not because I know every last jot and tittle
about linguistics. Afian, please post anything you wish. Ignore the
musicologists and listen to the musicians. Enjoy making a language!
