Yep, but I was talking of the "cap" available in one of LaTeX packages, not the
one from the mathematical environment.

To get this "inverted breve" diacritic, you need to use the tipa package of
LaTeX, which is used for typing IPA in LaTeX. When used, simply the command
\textroundcap{} in normal text is used for that "cap" diacritic.
This package seems quite nice, and probably quite useful for conlangers. It
provides even a way to simply make as complicated tone letters as you want (if
you have an alien tongue with a tone which can be described as 12514223, it can
make the tone letter corresponding to it :)) ).
