Well... sort of. The main writing system for my language is syllabic, so I don't have diacritics that specify the vowel completely. But I do have some diacritics that modify the basic vowel value of the syllable. I have a macron-like thingy that goes on top of the syllable, which turns the vowel into a diphthong with palatal off-glide. For instance, a sign that means /kE/ unadorned, becomes /kEj/ with the diacritic. Furthermore, I have a diacritic that looks like a breve, but behaves like a macron. :) That is, it turns a short (default length) vowel into a long one. Well... again, sort of. I have syllables without consonants. So if it ever becomes necesary to extend the inventory of diphthongs beyond the j-final ones, I could write it with an ordinary syllable sign followed by a vowel-only syllable sign. -arj
