As you'd read about if you visit my conscript page, my conlang has several
writing systems. The one described is the closest to language script as we
know it; there are other systems like the K0romoki' /k<h>O*.omoki/, which
represents letters by sequences of color patterns. This writing can be
used in strings of colored beads, or, more commonly, it is "written" by
arranging abundantly-found colored crystals in a pattern. This arrangement
can then be "burned in" on tablets -- sorta like painting on clay vessels,
you put it under heat to make the markings permanent.
Such a "writing" system would be very cryptic for non-Ebisedi!
There's also another writing system (still kinda vague, I didn't work out
any details yet) based on 2-dimensional patterns, with glyphs that can be
extended arbitrarily so that you can use it to make decorative patterns.
And then, I cannot forget to mention that one of the skills higher Experts
learn is a telepathic-like communication. There isn't really a need for
obscure cryptography when nobody else can hear your communication with
another person! I said "telepathic-like" because it is actually based on
the physics of the con-universe, not just some vague 6th sense type
notion.
