That reminds me - the Russian translation of <Ethan of Athos> (by Lois
McMaster Bujold) preserves the English pronunciation, and we don't even
know if English is spoken on the planet Athos! Ethan is Hebrew and
Athos is Greek; each ought to have a standard Russian form.
